We are blessed with a very special and extensive outdoor classroom which we use throughout the seasons, meaning pupils develop a deep appreciation and understanding of our environment and the natural world. We also have outstanding sports facilities and unique and individual classrooms in our manor house that are perfect for our small classes. St. George's provides the ideal setting for pupils to receive individual attention, guidance and support.  You can explore our grounds on the map below, but be sure to book a tour and visit us in person to truly appreciate all we have to offer.

THE PERFECT SETTING History of the school

St. George’s was founded in 1929 by Harold Goodwin in a large Georgian terraced house in Rouge Bouillon, St Helier, Jersey. The School quickly established a reputation for academic excellence combined with strong pastoral and moral leadership. The move to La Hague Manor happened in 1979, when pupil numbers demanded more space to learn and grow.

Onsite Swimming Pool

Our 10M onsite swimming pool provides the perfect setting for our younger pupils, who learn to swim and develop critical water safety skills. Our older pupils hone their technique and develop their strokes, strength and speed in the water.

Outdoor Classroom

Our pupils explore and enjoy our grounds for learning and playtimes in all seasons. Our Outdoor Classroom provides the perfect setting for nature-based and wellbeing lessons.

Science and Nature

Science lessons where we learn about ecosystems, organisms and nature can take place around our pond. Pupils love to explore the underwater realm!

35 Acres of Woodland & Grounds

We are blessed to be based within 35 acres of beautiful woodland and grounds here at St. George's. We explore and learn about the natural environment and our pupils grow up with an acute awareness of our responsibility to protect and enjoy the great outdoors.

Forest School

Every pupil from Nursery to Form VI enjoys weekly Forest School sessions. Many members of our Teaching Team are Forest School trained to advanced 'Forest School Leader' level. Our Forest School space has a firepit, seating area, story den and tools used by the children under direction whilst working with natural resources.

The Walled Garden

The Walled Garden is our unique, outdoor early years space. There are climbing frames to conquer, ride-on toys on which to mount expeditions, and a flower and vegetable bed to sow. You must visit, it's magical!

Exceptional Facilities

With two full-size football/rugby pitches, an athletics track, cricket square, full-size indoor and outdoor netball courts and an onsite swimming pool, pupils are able to challenge themselves in all sports. Every session is accessible, inclusive and fun and children with sporting prowess are well catered for with our expert coaches who lead our Sports Department.

Award-Winning Sports Hall

Our modern, award-winning Sports Hall has two full-size indoor courts and integrated gymnastic equipment. Allowing us to deliver sports lessons throughout the year, the Hall hosts pupils from Nursery to Form VI. The children develop their skills in a variety of sports and movement including dance, softball, basketball, netball, general fitness sessions and gymnastics.

La Hague Manor

St. George's Preparatory School relocated to La Hague Manor in 1979 from its former base, St. Ewolds, on Trinity Hill. The original fief, (an estate of land granted by the crown), may have been in existence as early as 1060, but it was Thomas Le Breton who rebuilt the Manor House in its current guise in the mid-18th Century. Later owner, Col. Le Cornu, added the tower, dormer windows, entrance porch and billiards room in 1871. When St. George's located to La Hague in 1979, the large rooms were easily adapted into general classrooms and the beautiful outbuildings utilised as specialist blocks to cater for pupils of all ages. The School was delighted to receive confirmation in 2015 that the Manor has been listed as a Grade II building, recognising its importance to the Island’s built heritage.

Courtyard

Our Courtyard is surrounded by classrooms for our youngest and oldest pupils, and provides another area for play and recreation during the school day.

Little Dragons Nursery and Preschool

Little Dragons Nursey and Preschool provid the perfect environment for 2–4-year-olds to take the first and most important steps on their learning journey. Little Dragons is bright, colourful and welcoming, with dedicated areas for each age group and an ever-changing range of free-flow activities. It’s a gentle, nurturing and exciting opportunity for our children to experience learning through play outside the home environment. Attendance at Little Dragons Preschool guarantees entry into Reception at St. George’s, providing the perfect first step on their St. George’s journey.

Form VI Block

Based in the former stable block, our eldest pupils enjoy the use of their own, dedicated Form VI building. In preparation for their next step into Secondary education, the pupils are more independent and enjoy a sense of greater freedom as elders of the school. They also provide friendship and mentorship to younger pupils as well as fulfilling roles of responsibility as members of the Pupil Leadership Team.
