Welcome to

St. George’s Prep

When pupils join us at St. George’s Preparatory school, they embark on a very special journey of learning and discovery. Our role is to engage and inspire them, igniting their potential. The way we achieve this is by truly knowing every child, meaning we’re able to support them to achieve their best. From Reception upwards, your child’s Form Tutors are their daily, consistent point of contact and will get to know your child well. Should parents want to discuss anything with us from an academic or pastoral point of view, Form Tutors are the first port of call.

Overseeing Form Tutors and responsible for the smooth-running of all academic and pastoral elements across specific year groups, are our Head of Early Years and Heads of Lower, Middle and Upper Prep. Our Heads of Prep have an overview of all elements of the curriculum for their year groups and are an excellent point of contact to discuss any parental queries.

WHERE TO NEXT?

Rachael Morris

Head of Lower Prep

Forms I & II

In Lower Prep, pupils continue the first years of their Primary learning journey with us, getting used to our school routine and focussing on exciting topics each term. For example, when studying ‘Space’, English lessons could include writing fact files about famous astronauts, science lessons will include collecting materials from a staged alien landing and then examining the properties of those materials, and in art pupils might draw and paint their own planets.

Over the course of each year, pupils are supported to achieve their learning goals whilst also enjoying their studies, with interactive lessons and whole-school themed curriculum days linking the year groups.

Lower Prep pupils will also have specialist teachers for specific subjects in their timetable including music, languages, swimming, PE and forest school. From Form II, they will also study computing.

During playtimes and lunch break, pupils will start to enjoy the freedom of the top playground and football fields.

You can email Ms Morris via the School Office.

Andy Moon

Head of Middle Prep

Form III & IV

In Middle Prep, the children start to be given more independence. They continue topic-based learning with the addition of texts in English lessons, enabling them to be completely immersed in their learning on a specific theme. A different topic is covered each half-term.

From Form III, the children start to be given more independence. They are escorted to lessons in other areas of the school to be taught by specialist teachers in languages, art/DT, and science. Pupils tackle more independent work and complement their studies at school with homework projects to support their learning. We help children to become used to assessments by including CATs and end of term assessments from Form III.

Pupils develop their confidence whilst participating in school events such as our annual Festival of Performing Arts, Carol Service and the island-wide Eisteddfod competition. They also begin to represent the School by taking part in sporting fixtures and tournaments.
