At St George’s, pastoral care lies at the heart of school life, guided by our values of kindness, resilience, achievement and responsibility. Each child’s wellbeing is supported by their form tutor, who acts as the first point of contact for both pupils and parents, ensuring strong relationships and consistent guidance.
Alongside this, our PSHE curriculum, delivered through the Jigsaw scheme, is all about preparing children for life in the modern world. Through discussion-based, interactive lessons, pupils learn how to be kind, respectful citizens who value diversity, regardless of religion, race or culture. They explore global differences, the impact of money on quality of life, and how to cope with change and challenges such as discrimination.
Children also learn to stay safe online, understand the importance of a balanced diet, and develop the confidence to stand up for themselves and others.
We value each child’s individuality and, for those children who may need a little extra support, we offer a bespoke programme for wellbeing which includes school-wide initiatives, emotional literacy support, Lego play therapy, and drawing and talking interventions, while also working closely with a wide range of external agencies to provide tailored support.
Our core aim is simple: to equip every child with the knowledge, skills and values to thrive as responsible, compassionate citizens, ready for their next steps in education and beyond.
